Common privacy notice
This tool-specific layer supplements the Sorola controller privacy notice, which identifies the controller and explains legal bases, common technical data, recipients, transfers, retention and your rights.
1. Introduction
Sorola URL Shortener is a web tool and browser extension that creates public short links. This layer explains processing specific to that function.
2. Data Collection and Usage
The website sends the destination you provide to https://sorola.fi/api/shortener/create. The extension uses activeTab only after a click to read the active tab URL and send it to the same endpoint.
- Tool data: The tool does not send the content you process to analytics. Optional consent-gated site analytics are described below.
- Stored data: The destination URL, generated short identifier, creation time and click counter are retained so the link works and can be administered.
- Public access: A person opening the short link is redirected to the stored destination. URLs can contain personal data, so do not shorten URLs containing secrets or credentials.
- Retention: A link remains until administrator deletion or the processing need ends. A link disabled after a report may be retained for investigation or a legal claim but no longer redirects visitors.
3. Data Sharing and Third Parties
The destination is disclosed to Sorola's API service and to people using the short link. Technical processors and network-request data are described in the common notice. Data is not sold.
4. Security
The extension service communicates over encrypted HTTPS and does not load remote code into the extension. The separate website may load consent-gated analytics as described below.

Optional site analytics
Sorola does not load Google Tag Manager or Plausible Analytics before you accept optional analytics. After acceptance, measurement may process the page URL, title and referrer, browser and device information, and form, outbound-link, and file-download event metadata. Identifier-free performance measurement additionally reports only the product, a coarse page class, rounded Core Web Vitals, and a count of at most ten errors; it does not report the path, user, processed content, or error details. Content you process in a tool is not intentionally added to analytics. Rejecting does not limit the service. The choice is stored in local browser storage and a first-party preference cookie for up to one year. You can change your choice at any time with the persistent “Privacy settings” button.
